Lights on Afterschool science expo-2019

In collaboration with Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend, STEMS4Girls holds the annual “Lights-on Afterschool Science Fair”. At the expo, community partners engage students, parents, and community members with STEM activities and demonstrations. The National Magnetic Lab facilitates hands-on activities, the Tallahassee Community College STEM Center provides a robotics demonstration, the FAMU 4-H AgriSTEM Team hosts an entomology display, and much more! The expo sparks curiosity and challenges young minds while reinforcing the importance of supporting afterschool programs.

Pictured are Zaira Leo and Tishauna Wilson. Zaira was a Science Fair participant, and Tishauna was our honorary guest speaker. In this picture Tishauna was a third year Computer Science undergraduate student at Florida A&M University, and at just 20-years-old, was recognized among a group of distinguished black women at the McDonald’s 365 Black Awards for developing technology-based programs at Florida A&M University (FAMU).  She has since received many more accolades and received her computer science degree from FAMU.
